General requests for item specific information or values

To properly handle your request you must complete the Appraisal Request form on our website. This is the manner in which all appraisals and information inquiries are processed and forwarded to the appropriate appraiser. All network members are off-site, fee-based appraisers. We therefore regret that we are unable to answer requests for free information about objects, and we cannot give preliminary assessments of whether your property is “worth appraising”.   Regardless of value, the appraiser must research the property.  Therefore, they are compensated for all work.  Consider the online appraisal as the trial to determine whether it is worth a qualified firsthand appraisal.

Placing an Order

When you submit an Appraisal Request you will receive two e-mail confirmations.  One is your credit card payment confirmation that includes your invoice number, and the other is your Appraisal Confirmation that includes your Appraisal ID number.  These numbers are not the same! Your credit card is immediately charged since payment is due prior to the appraiser beginning the work.

Fees

Our fee is $35/item, but matching items part of the same set will be considered as one appraisal.

Turnaround time

The turnaround time for an appraisal is anywhere from one day to one week from the time the appraiser has all information and images required to prepare the report.  This is a function of the research required for the property and the detail of the information you provide. If you have not received your report after one week, contact us and we will request a status report from the appraiser on your behalf.

Image specifications

You may upload 5 photographs.  Images must meet the following specifications:
Maximum File Size: 100 KB per image, 500 KB combined total for all images

Format (file extension): JPG (JPEG) or GIF only
Maximum dimensions: 640 X 480 pixels
Maximum Resolution: 96 DPI
If the total combined image files exceed 500 KB, you will get an error message.  Please have your photographs ready to upload at the time you submit your Appraisal Request. Photo upload instructions follow the payment process.

Image Submission
As you complete the Appraisal Request form you will be prompted to upload your images following the credit card payment process.  If you are submitting images after your Appraisal Request has already been processed, you may submit images in one of three ways:

1. Upload images directly to your Appraisal Request through the Appraisal Review page.  When logging in, be sure you are on the Appraisal Review page and not the Appraisers Login page. Use your Appraisal ID number and not your invoice number.  Your Appraisal ID number can be found in your Appraisal Confirmation e-mail.  If selecting this option, please send us a separate e-mail with your Appraisal ID number informing us they have been uploaded.  You may upload 5 photographs.  If the appraiser requires more than the original 5, we will ask you to e-mail them to us.
2. Send them to us as an e-mail file attachment, and we will upload them for you.  Use this option if you are having difficulty editing your images to conform to our specifications or if your appraiser has requested additional images beyond the 5 you may upload.  You must include your Appraisal ID number.
3. Mail your photos to us.  If you do not have a scanner or digital camera, you may mail your photos to us.  We will scan and upload them for you.  Our address is:
AppraiseItNet.com, Inc.
P.O. Box 803
Chicago, IL 60690-0803

If mailing images, please send actual photos and not photocopies.  If sending computer printouts, be sure they are on photo quality paper, as we will be scanning them for upload to the website for the appraiser to view online.  You must include your Appraisal ID number.  Photos will be returned only if you provide a stamped self-addressed envelope.

No images of any kind will be accepted without an Appraisal Request on file, and they must include the Appraisal ID number assigned when the order was placed.

I do not have a camera.

You will find that you can get reasonably good images from a 35 mm disposable camera which can be purchased at most drugstores. You can then send them to us after you process your appraisal request, and we will scan and upload them for you.

Appraisal Reports.  How do I receive my appraisal report?

You will receive an e-mail of your report that will also include a web link to view the report directly online. You may also link your online report to your item when listing it on your favorite online auction site.  Prior to your report being completed you may log in on the Appraisal Review page to view the data you submitted along with the images that have been uploaded.  This is also where your final appraisal report can be viewed.

Category Menu.  How do I know if AppraiseItNet.com covers a specific specialty?

Page 1 of our Appraisal Request form contains our 3-tier category menu of over 330 areas of expertise covered by our network of appraisers.

I cannot advance to page 2 of the Appraisal Request form.

Make sure that you have made entries in all required fields.  You must also choose from at least the first two of the three category tiers.  If you get an error message, both the password and category selections are automatically deselected, so be sure to check all of your previous selections.

I cannot view the category menu.

This will also prevent you from advancing to page 2 of the Appraisal Request form.  This is directly related to the browser version you are using and its ability to read JavaScript, the most common programming language used on the Internet today.  We strongly recommend that you upgrade your browser to the latest versions of Internet Explorer or Netscape to be sure you are properly viewing the entire category menu.  If you are unable to make this browser upgrade, e-mail us for the text version of our Appraisal Request form.  Complete the text version of the Appraisal Request form and e-mail it back to us with your payment information and images attached.  We will enter your order for you with the appropriate category selection.

I can view only part of an image I have uploaded.  It appears to be cut off.

This is directly related to your browser.  Netscape has a flaw in its programming that restricts the use of Image Viewer scroll bars.  Images are best viewed using Internet Explorer as the browser.
