All appraisers in the AppraiseItNet.com™ network are members of the International Society of Appraisers, the American Society of Appraisers, the Appraisers Association of America, or other leading industry associations in the country. To hold their professional designations all appraisers must be educated, trained and tested to the standards of their respective organizations. This includes successful completion of mandatory course work and examinations on appraisal principles and procedures based upon a standard body of knowledge. Additionally, they are required to have a minimum of 3-5 years appraisal experience or its equivalent through education or business related experience. Further, they must submit representative appraisal reports for peer review and be screened for ethical behavior. Appraisers in these organizations must pass an examination of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). The Uniform Standards, authorized by Congress, are the source of appraisal industry standards and appraiser qualifications. Appraisers in these organizations must furnish professional and personal references and be subject to local credit and background investigations. In addition, local chapters conduct personal interviews and evaluate the practices of all members. These organizations require periodic mandatory recertification.
